Minister Calls For Large Turnout at Veligonda Project Inauguration
The minister said the project fulfilled the three-decade-old aspiration of people in the western parts of the erstwhile Prakasam district

TIRUPATI: Social welfare minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy on Monday has called upon people to attend in large numbers the inauguration of the Veligonda project scheduled for later this month.
Ahead of the inauguration, the minister and Kanigiri MLA Mukku Ugra Narasimha Reddy offered special prayers at the Paleti Gangamma temple in Alavalapadu village of P.C. Palli mandal. They later participated in a bike and tractor rally, a students’ rally and a Kolatam performance by farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the project fulfilled the three-decade-old aspiration of people in the western parts of the erstwhile Prakasam district. He said it was significant that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who laid the foundation stone for the project around 30 years ago, would inaugurate it.
The minister alleged that the previous YSRC government had dedicated the project to the nation before its completion, misleading the people.
He said the project would help address irrigation and drinking water needs in the western Prakasam region and appealed to people from villages across the region to attend the inauguration in large numbers.
