Mercury Shoots Up By 4 Degrees In AP, Heavy Rains From Today
IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh this week as temperatures soar by 4°C in many areas

Visakhapatnam: Day temperatures shot up by about 4 degrees Celsius in many parts of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, when the India Meteorological Department office in Amaravati forecast heavy rains over coastal AP and Rayalaseema during the next three days.
The Met office said the upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu has persisted, lying between 1.5 km and 4.5 km above the mean sea level.
Under the influence of the system, heavy rain is likely over Rayalaseema on Monday, while thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema. Strong winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are likely at isolated places over these areas.
On Tuesday, August 5, heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Rayalaseema, while heavy rain has been forecast over south coastal AP (SCAP). Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema. Strong winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are likely at isolated places over north coastal AP (NCAP), Yanam and SCAP
On Wednesday, August 6, heavy rain is likely over SCAP and Rayalaseema, while thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely over NCAP, Yanam, SCAP and Rayalaseema.
On August 7 and 8, heavy rain is likely over SCAP and Rayalaseema.
Met office said temperatures on Monday have risen up by 4 degrees in many parts of the state on Monday. Jangamaheswarapuram recorded the highest temperature of 38.1 (+3.9) degrees Celsius, Tuni 38 (+4.7), Narasapur 36.7 (+4.4), Kakinada (+4.2) and Visakhapatnam 36.8 (+3.8) degrees Celsius.
During the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Pakala (Tirupati) received the highest rainfall of 5 cm, Rajupalem (YSR district) 4 cm, Merakamudidam (Vizianagaram) 4 cm and Vepada (Vizianagaram) 2.5 cm.
