Mega PTM 4.0 Held Across Nellore, Prakasam, Tirupati, Chittoor

TIRUPATI: AP government organised the 4.0 version of the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) at the government schools across Nellore, Prakasam, Tirupati and Chittoor districts on Friday. On the day, ministers and district officials also interacted with students, parents and teachers. They together reviewed the academic progress of students and encouraged greater parental involvement in their children’s education.

Municipal administration and urban development minister P. Narayana participated in the programme at DSR Government Girls High School in Nellore. He underlined that the government is committed to providing quality education and helping government schools achieve international standards by strengthening infrastructure and facilities for academics, sports and extracurricular activities.

The minister announced that students of 23 government schools under the Nellore Municipal Corporation would receive free IIT Foundation coaching through the Narayana Group from August 1. He asked parents not to get upset with poor marks of their children, saying proper guidance and encouragement could help improve their performance.

Recalling his own student days, Narayana said he had failed Class X once before completing his education successfully through perseverance. He announced that 7,000 bicycles would be distributed to government school students on July 27 in the first phase of the programme.

At Petlur village in Prakasam district, Social Welfare minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy described students as the country's most valuable human resource. He appealed to parents to visit schools regularly and monitor their children's progress. He underlined that the government is upgrading infrastructure at schools, introducing LEAF schools, promoting “No Bag Day”, expanding NEET and IIT coaching facilities and creating awareness against drug abuse.

In Tirupati, district collector Dr S. Venkateswar said around 1.52 lakh students and parents from 2,550 schools participated in Mega PTM 4.0 across the district. He said the donor app would enable alumni and philanthropists to contribute transparently towards school development. On the day, the collector donated half of his monthly salary for infrastructure development at the school he visited.

At Rompicherla in Chittoor district, collector Sumit Kumar asked parents to maintain regular contact with teachers and closely monitor their children's education, discipline, and well-being. He advised parents to keep children away from drugs and other harmful influences. He said the government is investing in improvement of government schools through better infrastructure, welfare measures and quality education.
