Medical Shops to Remain Open During Bandh: DCA
Apollo Pharmacy also informed authorities that at least 50 per cent of its stores would function on the bandh day

Visakhapatnam: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Visakhapatnam, has assured the public that medical shops will remain open during the nationwide bandh called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists on May 20. The DCA said measures had been taken to ensure uninterrupted availability of medicines.
According to officials, the Visakhapatnam District Chemists and Druggists Association informed authorities that it would participate in the one-day bandh. In response, the DCA directed the association to keep at least one medical shop open in every centre across the district to avoid inconvenience to patients and the public.
Assistant director (FAC), Drugs Control Administration, Visakhapatnam, K. Rajitha clarified that pharmacies operating in hospitals and nursing homes would function normally, ensuring there would be no shortage of medicines for in-patients and emergency cases.
Meanwhile, MedPlus Pharmacy announced that it would not participate in the bandh and that all its outlets in Visakhapatnam district would remain open. Apollo Pharmacy also informed authorities that at least 50 per cent of its stores would function on the bandh day.
The DCA said all arrangements had been made for emergency medicine supply and advised the public to contact drug inspectors in case of difficulty in procuring medicines.
