MCT Starts Single-Window Clearance For Vinayaka Mandapams

The move will help streamline the process and bring all mandapam organisers under a common platform: Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu

TIRUPATI: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has opened a single-window system to issue permissions for Vinayaka mandapams during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu and MCT commissioner N. Maurya inaugurated the facility on Wednesday at the TUDA sports complex.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivasulu said the move will help streamline the process and bring all mandapam organisers under a common platform. He appealed to the various Ganesh committees to obtain clearances only through the Vinayaka Mahotsava Committee and celebrate the festival on August 27 in a traditional and disciplined manner.

The MLA urged devotees to shun plaster of Paris idols and instead install clay statues. He recalled that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan have been advocating eco-friendly practices. Such measures would help protect local water bodies, he pointed out.

Commissioner Maurya said permissions will be granted free of cost under the single-window system. She said a call centre will be operational during the festival to register complaints related to mandapam arrangements.

Maurya said Ganesh immersion has been fixed for August 31 at Vinayaka Sagar, where the civic authorities are making elaborate arrangements. She requested organisers to follow the time slots allotted to their mandapams to ensure that the event passes off without traffic disruptions.

Those present at the programme included Vinayaka Mahotsava Committee convener Samanchi Srinivas, Yadava Corporation chairman G. Narasimha Yadav and Deputy Mayor R.C. Munikrishna.
