Manyam Picked for Niti Aayog’s Rural Agri Revamp Mission
The collector said a comprehensive action plan is in the works to maximise the district’s agricultural potential and benefit farmers

Visakhapatnam: Niti Aayog has selected Parvatipuram Manyam district under its District Agri Rural Transformation Plan (DARTP) to accelerate agricultural development, announced district collector A. Shyam Prasad during the Zonal Level Research and Extension Advisory Council (ZREAC) meeting held at Parvathipuram ITDA on Saturday.
The meeting was jointly organised by Rastakuntubai Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Chinthapalli Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS) to chalk out strategies for the 2025–26 Kharif and Rabi seasons. The collector said a comprehensive action plan is in the works to maximise the district’s agricultural potential and benefit farmers.
He noted that the district recorded a 16.20% growth rate last year, largely driven by agriculture and allied sectors, which support 70% of the population and account for 51% of the local economy. The goal for this year is to achieve 16.12% growth through horticulture expansion, crop diversification, and better farmer support.
Key initiatives include farm ponds, perennial crops, fodder development, mobile video vans, and subsidies for micro-irrigation. Scientists were urged to ensure timely supply of export-quality paddy seeds. The event also saw the release of nine research publications by KVK and RARS.
