Manyam district set to achieve 16.12% growth rate : Collector

"The Gross Domestic Income is expected to reach `1,94,048 against `1,67,543 in the last year," the collector stated during a media interaction on Thursday, coinciding with the eve of District Formation Day.

The district anticipates substantial sectoral growth, with projections of 49.27 per cent in the primary sector, 9.09 per cent in the industrial sector, and 41.64 per cent in the service sector. Horticulture has been identified as a key focus area in the primary sector, with plans to generate `473 crore of Gross Value Addition (GVA) through area extension and farmer capacity-building initiatives.

The collector highlighted significant achievements under the MGNREGA programme, which provided approximately 128.91 lakh man-days of employment in 2024-25. The district plans to increase this figure by 5 lakh to reach 133.91 lakh man-days in 2025-26. He noted that job card-holding families averaged 72 working days, with 49,416 families completing the full 100 days of work. In total, 1.79 lakh families benefitted from the programME, with `322.54 crore distributed as wages.

The collector briefed that out of the 672 CC road projects sanctioned, covering 156 kilometres, 471 have already been completed. Similarly, 89 of 163 planned BT roads, spanning 310 kilometres, are now finished. The district has also completed 198 of 331 compound walls at a cost of Rs.22.42 crores, along with 742 cow sheds. Additionally, about 40,000 saplings have been distributed to promote greenery.
