Man Stages Video Of Mother Tied To Pole Over Property Dispute

The video, which surfaced on social media on Monday, showed an elderly woman, later identified as Gangamma, standing against an electric pole with drip pipes wrapped around her body, seemingly bound.

TIRUPATI: A video showing a woman allegedly tied to an electric pole at Thammiganipalli of Karlaghat village in Shantipuram mandal has turned out to be a staged act orchestrated by her son to gain public sympathy in their family property dispute.

The video, which surfaced on social media on Monday, showed an elderly woman, later identified as Gangamma, standing against an electric pole with drip pipes wrapped around her body, seemingly bound. Her son Suresh posted the video of her on Facebook, claiming that Manjunath, the son of his father’s first wife, had tied her up over a property dispute.

However, police investigations have found that Suresh himself staged the entire incident. The police, who visited the spot, confirmed that Gangamma was not tied up and was standing freely at the time of recording. It was revealed that the video was filmed in the presence of other family members and that Manjunath, whom Suresh had accused, was not even at the location.

The dispute began following the recent death of Muneppa, a resident of the village who had two wives, Munemma and Gangamma. After his funeral rituals were concluded on Sunday, and tensions regarding their property division escalated . Suresh, the son of the second wife Gangamma, is believed to have orchestrated this scene to draw public and official attention in his favour.

The Rallabudugur police stated that no outside individuals were involved and that the incident was a family issue manipulated for personal gain. Police decided to initiate legal proceedings against Suresh for spreading misinformation and staging a misleading act.

This incident follows a similar viral video from Kuppam’s Narayanapuram village in June, where a woman was tied to a tree and beaten over her husband's loan default. That case drew widespread condemnation, prompting Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to order strict action and extend financial support to the victim.
