Nellore: Tirupati Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested two burglars involved in a series of house break-ins in the Narayanapuram area of Tirupati city and recovered stolen property worth about Rs18.30 lakh.
The arrested were identified as Perumal Krishna, 54, and his son Santosh Kumar, 26, natives of Malleswaram in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The recovered items include 162 gm of gold, 1,136 gm of silver, three mobile phones, a watch and Rs 5,000 in cash.
Police said Perumal Krishna had been living in Tirupati for the past 15 years and was previously involved in several theft cases in Karnataka. Investigations revealed that Santosh Kumar joined his father in committing house burglaries from January 2025 in the Subash Nagar, Subbareddy Nagar and Narayanapuram areas.
The case came to light after Gopala Krishna, an auditor, lodged a complaint stating that he had locked his house on November 28, 2025, and left for Chennai for his son’s medical treatment. On returning on December 10, 2025, he found the house lock broken and gold and silver ornaments missing.
Superintendent of police L. Subbarayudu formed special teams under the supervision of additional SP B. Nagabhushan Rao and led by CCS DSP Y. Shyam Sundaram. Based on surveillance of the suspects’ movements, police arrested the duo on January 2, 2026, at Mangalam Road and recovered the stolen property.
Police said the main accused had earlier served jail terms for similar offences in Bengaluru and Hosur. The SP praised the investigating teams and announced cash rewards for cracking the case.
