Man Posing as Doctor Held in Kidney Case
Investigations revealed his involvement in at least 33 cases, including mobile phone thefts and frauds across Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam police arrested a man for impersonating a doctor at King George Hospital (KGH) and cheating a father of `1 lakh on the false promise of arranging a kidney transplant for his ailing child.
The accused was identified as Immandhi Jyothi Sivasri (37), also known as Dr Narasimham or Dr Praveen, a resident of Sri Nagar Colony in Vijayawada, Krishna district.
Deputy commissioner of police Manikanta Chandolu said the complainant, Dusi Ramji (33) of Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district, reported that his five-year-old son, Mokshit Ram, has been suffering from a kidney ailment since infancy. After treatment at Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad, the child was referred to hospitals in Srikakulam and later to Visakhapatnam for advanced care.
Following an appeal published in newspapers on February 22, Ramji received a call on February 25 from a man claiming to be Dr Narasimham, who said he had accessed the child’s details through government sources and asked the family to visit KGH. At the hospital, the accused, wearing a medical apron and posing as a postgraduate doctor, escorted them to the superintendent’s office and demanded ₹1 lakh for the transplant. Ramji paid the amount the same evening, only to later realise he had been cheated.
Police analysed CCTV footage from KGH and tracked the mobile numbers used by the accused. Investigations revealed his involvement in at least 33 cases, including mobile phone thefts and frauds across Andhra Pradesh.
Upon arrest, police seized ₹30,000 in cash, a white medical apron and a stethoscope. A case has been registered under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at One Town Police Station.
Police said Sivasri is a native of Tanuku in West Godavari district and holds a B.Tech degree from Aditya Engineering College, Samalkota.
