Man nabbed for Anakapalli woman's murder for gold after 23 days

Visakhapatnam: The Chodavaram police have arrested the accused in the murder case of Vabul Reddy Narasamma, who was killed on January 9 in Lakkavaram village, Anakapalli district. The details were revealed during a press conference held on Monday by district SP Tuhin Sinha.

The SP briefed that the accused has been arrested after 23 days of the manhunt. According to the investigation, a 58-year-old Narasamma was killed in the early morning hours of January 9. Her body was found in her sugarcane field with fatal knife wounds to her neck, and a gold chain weighing three and a half tola was stolen.
The SP revealed that due to financial constraints driven by addictions to gambling, drinking, and other habits, which led the accused towards criminal activities, he murdered the victim when no one was there and stole her gold and other valuables.
The accused is being produced before the court on Tuesday. A case has been registered under criminal case No. 07/2025, and further investigations are ongoing.
