Man Held For Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Girl

The accused was identified as Dara Vengala Rayudu, a native of Rajahmundry in East Godavari district

Visakhapatnam: The Three Town police in Visakhapatnam arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl at a hotel in the city. Although the incident occurred on Wednesday, it came to light late on Thursday.

The accused was identified as Dara Vengala Rayudu, a native of Rajahmundry in East Godavari district. Police said the girl’s relatives alleged that Rayudu lured the minor and sexually assaulted her.

However, Rayudu claimed that he had been trapped by the girl’s relatives due to a financial dispute. Inspector P. Pydiyya of the Three Town police station said the accused had been in an extramarital relationship with a woman from Rajahmundry, who allegedly took ₹2.4 crore from him citing financial and family problems.

The dispute escalated when Rayudu demanded the return of the money and the woman refused. In August 2025, Rayudu lodged a cheating complaint against her at the Three Town police station in Rajahmundry, following which a case was registered. Police said the woman and her family members allegedly threatened Rayudu to withdraw the complaint.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is under way.
