He reportedly assured D. Lokesh and N. Satti that he could arrange Home Guard jobs for them.

TIRUPATI: Alipiri police arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly collecting ₹6.95 lakh from two persons by promising to secure them Home Guard jobs and later giving them fake appointment letters.

The accused, Gunduboyina Naresh of Madapalli in Chejerla mandal of Nellore district, allegedly introduced himself as a Home Guard working at the Nellore district police office. He reportedly assured D. Lokesh and N. Satti that he could arrange Home Guard jobs for them.

According to the complaint, Naresh collected ₹4.95 lakh from Lokesh and ₹2 lakh from Satti through bank accounts, claiming the money was required for job-related expenses. He allegedly later handed them fake appointment letters.

Lokesh lodged a complaint with Alipiri police on October 2. During the investigation, police found that Naresh had been absent from duty in the Nellore Home Guard unit for about a year. Police detained him in Tirupati on Monday and arrested him.

Police said Naresh was also allegedly involved in two earlier job-related cheating cases. In one case registered with Mangalagiri Rural police, he allegedly collected ₹7 lakh and later returned the amount. In another case registered with Buchireddypalem police, he was accused of receiving ₹17.50 lakh on the promise of providing jobs. The case is under trial.
