Nellore: A 21-year-old man drowned while swimming in a pond at Pamidipadu village in Korishapadu mandal on Sunday, police said.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Pilli Chinnababu, a resident of Rachapudi village. He had gone to the pond with two friends for a swim. Chinnababu entered the water first but got trapped in a deep section of the pond, struggled to breathe, and drowned before he could surface.
When he failed to return, his friends alerted nearby villagers. Local residents then launched a search and recovered his body from the pond.
Officials, including Addanki Rural CI Mallikarjuna Rao and SI Suresh Babu, rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Addanki Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
