Man Awarded 14 Years of RI for Sexual Assault
Women's Court finds accused guilty of repeated sexual assault

Visakhapatnam: The Vizianagaram district court sentenced a man to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 in a rape case that was registered in 2021. The accused, Gunapu Simhadri from Patharega village in Ramabhadrapuram mandal, was found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman of the same village. The verdict was given by N. Padmavati, Judge of the Vizianagaram Women's Court cum 5th Additional District Judge Court. The case dates back to 2021 when the then Inspector S. Krishnamurthy registered a case at Ramabhadrapuram police station following a complaint that Simhadri sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions. The investigation was conducted by L. Appala Naidu, who was then serving as Saluru Rural circle inspector. Following the investigation, Simhadri was arrested and remanded to custody before a charge sheet was filed in court. After examining the evidence presented before the court, Judge Padmavati pronounced the judgment
