Makara Sankranti Brahmotsavams at Srisailam From Jan. 12

ANANTAPUR: Makara Sankranti Brahmotsavams will be organised at Lord Mallikarjuna Swami and Goddess Bramarambika temples in Srisailam from January 12 to January 18, coinciding with the auspicious Makara Sankramana.

Temple executive officer (EO) Srinivasa Rao said as per the tradition, Brahmotsavams are conducted at the temple twice every year — during Makara Sankranti and Maha Shivaratri.

As part of the Makara Sankranti festival, special pujas, homams, japas, parayanams and various sevas will be performed for universal welfare.

The Brahmotsavams will commence on January 12 with the Yagasala Pravesham. Ankuraaropana and Dhwajarohana will be held the same evening. From January 13 onwards, various Vahana Sevas will be performed for the Lord and Goddess. Their Kalyanam will be performed in a grand manner on January 15 on the occasion of Makara Sankranti. As per tradition, Chenchu tribal devotees have been specially invited to participate in the celebrations on the occasion.

On January 17, Yaga Poornahuti, Kalasodvasana and Trishula Snanam will be performed in the morning, followed by Sadasyam, Nagavalli and Dhwajavarohana in the evening.

The Brahmotsavams will conclude on January 18 with Ashwa Vahana Seva, Pushpotsavam, Shayanotsavam and Ekanta Seva.

In view of the Brahmotsavams, certain Arjitha Sevas, including Rudra Homam, Chandi Homam, Mrutyunjaya Homam, Ganapati Homam, Kalyanams, Udayastamana Seva, Pratahkala Seva, Pradosha Seva and Ekanta Seva will remain suspended from January 12 to January 18.
