Macherla ASI Suspended For Extortion Of Couples
Guntur Range inspector general of police Sarvashresth Tripathi issued the suspension orders based on an inquiry conducted against the ASI: Reports

VIJAYAWADA: Assistant sub-inspector of police (ASI) E. Srinivasa Rao, attached to the Macherla Town police station, has been placed under suspension on charges of intimidation and extortion of couples visiting tourist places in and around Macherla in Palnadu district on Saturday.
Guntur Range inspector general of police Sarvashresth Tripathi issued the suspension orders based on an inquiry conducted against the ASI. There had been complaints against the ASI that he would target young men and women sitting at tourist places.
Srinivasa Rao would make video recordings of them with each other. He would then demand money from them by threatening to book cases against them.
The ASI is also accused of seeking sexual favours from the young women he finds with their boyfriends at lonely places. AP women’s commission chairperson Rayapati Sailaja has condemned the behaviour of Macherla ASI. She has called for a detailed inquiry against Srinivasa Rao and stringent action against him.
