Only 19 applications were received for 27 liquor shops in Nandyal, with 16 found eligible after scrutiny and 11 shops receiving no applications.

The response to liquor shop licences in Nandyal district has been lukewarm, with only 19 applications received for 27 shops whose licences were not renewed.
Nandyal district excise officials conducted a lottery on Thursday for the 27 shops. Of the 19 applications received, only 16 were found eligible after scrutiny and accepted by the officials.
No applications were received for 11 shops, leaving these outlets without prospective licence holders.
Excise official S. Ravikumar said the lottery was conducted strictly in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations. Officials completed the scrutiny of applications before conducting the lottery for eligible applicants.
