LRS Receives Good Response in Kurnool, Muted in Kadapa, Nandyal
In the last six months, as many as 5,897 applications have been received in the district for layout regularisations, generating a substantial ₹61.61 crore in revenue

KURNOOL: Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) of the state government has received a good response in Kurnool district, mobilising a major revenue for urban local bodies (ULBs).
In the last six months, as many as 5,897 applications have been received in the district for layout regularisations, generating a substantial ₹61.61 crore in revenue. Those dealing with real estate see this surge as a revival of interest among people for building their houses or investing in property. New residential layouts are mushrooming in areas surrounding Kurnool.
In contrast, the response in YSR Kadapa and Nandyal districts is relatively muted. Kadapa district received only 1,131 applications for LRS, fetching just ₹4.83 crore. Nandyal district witnessed only 723 applications, with mere ₹2.53 crore generated.
Officials, however, are optimistic about applications for LRS in these two districts increasing in the coming months.
Compared to LRS, the BPS (Building Penalisation Scheme) has evoked only a moderate response across these three districts. In Kurnool district, authorities have identified 1,162 unauthorised constructions. But only 129 building owners have come forward to regularise their properties, paying ₹11.10 crore in penalties.
In YSR Kadapa district, out of 2,682 unauthorised structures, 149 applications have been received under BPS, yielding ₹5.56 crore. Nandyal district has 871 unauthorised buildings, but only 60 applications have been received for regularisation, generating ₹6.89 crore.
