Low Pressure Over Bay Likely To Bring Rain To Andhra Pradesh

The IMD also noted the formation of a trough extending from west Assam to Telangana, accompanied by an upper air cyclonic circulation linked to the low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal.

Visakhapatnam: A low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring rainfall to Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Currently, southwesterly and westerly winds in the lower troposphere are prevailing over the region, creating favourable conditions for rain.

On Wednesday, temperatures soared across Andhra Pradesh, with Tirupati and Nellore recording the highest at 39°C. Visakhapatnam, Bapatla, and Kadapa registered 37°C, Amaravati saw 36.1°C, Anantapur recorded 34°C, and Kalingapatnam reported 32°C.

The IMD also noted the formation of a trough extending from west Assam to Telangana, accompanied by an upper air cyclonic circulation linked to the low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal. This extends into adjoining Jharkhand, interior Odisha, and southern Chhattisgarh at an altitude of 3.1 kilometres above mean sea level.

Additionally, another trough stretches from the northeast Arabian Sea, associated with a cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbouring areas. This system influences south Gujarat, north Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, south Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, operating at altitudes between 4.5 and 7.6 kilometres above mean sea level.
