Low Pressure Area in Bay, Rainfall for AP

IMD warns of rain, gusty winds across Andhra Pradesh till April 11

Visakhapatnam: A low-pressure area was formed over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal on Monday morning under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood.

According to IMD Amaravati, the system is likely to move northwestwards over the southwest Bay of Bengal until April 8 (Tuesday). Subsequently, in the following 48 hours, it would move northwards over the west-central Bay of Bengal.

Additionally, a trough extends from the cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal to South Tamil Nadu, across the southwest Bay of Bengal, up to a distance of 1.5km above mean sea level.

IMD is closely monitoring the condition. Details as to whether the low-pressure area would intensify further and about its path would be known on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and south coastal Andhra Pradesh from April 7 to April 11. During this period, gusty winds with a speed of 30-40 kmph is likely at isolated places over coastal AP.

In the next four days, light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely at one or two places over coastal AP and Rayalaseema regions.

Rainfall was recorded at one or two places in coastal AP, Yanam and Rayalaseema between the mornings on Sunday and Monday. The highest maximum temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Kurnool on Monday, which was followed by Nandyal (40.2), Kadapa (40.1), Jangamaheswarapuram (39.2), Anantapur (39.1) and Nandigama (39). Vizag city recorded 34.8 degrees C on Monday.
