Lottery for 21 Bars Fetches ₹11.21 Crore in Nellore District

The lottery was held at Shankaran Hall in the Collectorate under the chairmanship of district collector Himanshu Shukla

Nellore: The prohibition and excise department generated a revenue of `11.21 crore through the allotment of 21 open-category bars in SPSR Nellore district for the 2025–26 excise year, following a lottery conducted on Wednesday.

A total of 87 applications were received for the 21 bars notified by the department. The lottery was held at Shankaran Hall in the Collectorate under the chairmanship of district collector Himanshu Shukla.

According to allotment details, 18 bars within the Nellore Municipal Corporation limits were allotted for a total licence fee of `10,12,50,000. Two bars in Kavali municipality fetched `82,50,000, while one bar in Atmakur municipality was allotted for `26,25,000.

The lottery was conducted in the presence of district deputy commissioner (prohibition and excise) M. Shankaraiah, assistant commissioner P. Daya Sagar, district prohibition and excise officer A. Srinivasulu Naidu, assistant superintendents J. Ramesh (ESTF) and R. Jagadeeswara Reddy (enforcement), along with prohibition and excise inspectors and sub-inspectors.

Officials stated that the entire process was conducted in a transparent manner and strictly in accordance with the prescribed rules.
