Lord Krishna Idol On Maha Gopuram Of Tirumala Temple Found Damaged
TTD pointed out that idols on the Maha Gopuram remain exposed to sun and rain for long periods, due to which some of them end up requiring repairs.
TIRUPATI: An arm of Lord Krishna’s idol on the Maha Gopuram of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Tirumala has been found damaged on Tuesday. The incident occurred while painting and repair works are going on in Tirumala ahead of the Srivari Brahmotsavams from September 15 to September 23.
The damaged idol is among the hundreds of sculptures on the temple gopuram that are being inspected as part of the annual maintenance works.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has clarified that there is no negligence in the matter. It pointed out that its staff have already noticed that the Krishna idol required repairs. Necessary action has already been initiated in this regard.
The TTD pointed out that idols on the Maha Gopuram remain exposed to sun and rain for long periods, due to which some of them end up requiring repairs. The devasthanam said employees check the condition of sculptures on the Maha Gopuram every year while taking up painting and repair works ahead of the Brahmotsavams.
The clarification of TTD has come amid reports and social media posts of the damaged idol. The devasthanam maintained that there is no basis to attribute negligence. It appealed to people not to spread unverified information about the incident.
The temple body asked people not to create doubts within the minds of devotees through misinformation.
