Lokesh Welcomes PM’s Anti-Drug Campaign, Condemns Attack on Dalits
Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide anti-drug campaign and condemned the alleged attack on Dalits in Alur, assuring legal action against those responsible.
Education and IT minister Nara Lokesh on Monday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s launch of the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat campaign aimed at building a drug-free society.
In a post on X, Lokesh thanked the Prime Minister for launching the programme and called upon people to support the 100-week nationwide anti-drug campaign.
“With the Prime Minister’s call to conduct a 100-week nation-wide campaign against drug eradication as a national movement, let us all join this national movement. After the coalition government came to power in Andhra Pradesh, we have conducted numerous awareness programmes under the name Drugs Vaddhu Bro. We have formed a special team called EAGLE and are working tirelessly with societal participation for a drug-free AP,” he said.
In a separate statement, Lokesh condemned the alleged attack on Dalits from Nemakallu and Sangala villages after they questioned the alleged actions of Alur YSRC MLA Busine Virupakshi.
Lokesh alleged that the MLA had stripped a Dalit woman and said those responsible for the alleged atrocities could not escape legal action.
“The government stands firmly with the Dalits,” he said.
