Lokesh To Unfurl Tricolour at NTR District Independence Day Celebrations

Vijayawada: IT and education minister N. Lokesh will unfurl the Tricolour and address the gathering at the 80th Independence Day celebrations to be held at the Makineneni Basava Punnaiah Stadium in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada, on Saturday.
The NTR district administration has completed arrangements for the celebrations. District collector Dr G. Lakshmisha and Vijayawada Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekhar Babu inspected the full-dress rehearsal at the stadium on Friday.
The collector and police commissioner reviewed the proceedings from a parade vehicle, including the flag-hoisting ceremony, police parade, guard of honour, motorcycle stunts and parades by various government departments. They appreciated the police personnel, students and officials who participated in the rehearsal and directed officials to ensure that the celebrations were conducted in a disciplined manner.
Dr Lakshmisha said the celebrations would be organised on a grand scale, on par with a state-level event. Government departments would showcase development and welfare initiatives through tableaux, while cultural programmes, police motorcycle stunts, drum performances and departmental parades would be among the attractions.
He appealed to people and students to participate in large numbers and demonstrate patriotism, national unity and respect for the sacrifices of freedom fighters.

VIPs, invitees and senior officials have been directed to reach the venue via the Telugu Desam central office on the Singh Nagar-American Hospital Road and enter through the stadium's North Gate. The public, students, parade personnel and other officials should approach via Daba Kotlu and Vambay Colony Road and use the South Gate.
Visitors have been asked to park their vehicles only in designated areas and cooperate with the police to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
