TIRUPATI: Sricity International University (SIU), established under the Andhra Pradesh Private Universities Act, will formally begin its academic journey on July 2 with its inauguration by education minister Nara Lokesh at Sri City.
The university will open admissions for the 2026-27 academic year with four undergraduate programmes: BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, BTech in Manufacturing, BBA in Finance and Accounting, and BBA in Digital Marketing and Communication.
SIU will adopt a Work-Study Dual Model, enabling students to combine classroom learning with paid industry internships from the first year. According to the university, students will alternate between academic sessions and workplace training during the four-year programme, earning a minimum monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 while gaining more than two years of industry experience before graduation.
The university has integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teaching, assessment, industry projects and workplace learning. It said AI would be used as a practical learning tool across disciplines rather than being taught as a standalone subject.
Ahead of the launch, SIU organised a brainstorming session on 'Higher Education in the AI Era: Relevance of the Work-Study Dual Model and Stakeholder Perspectives', bringing together academicians, school leaders, parents and other stakeholders.
SIU Prof. vice-chancellor Prof. K. Nagabhushan Raju said the university's Work-Study Dual Model would equip students with both academic knowledge and practical industry skills. He added that SIU would follow a 48-week academic calendar instead of the conventional 30-week schedule, making internships an integral part of the curriculum.
Officer (Academic Planning) G. Vijay Kumar said students would begin using AI-based tools from the first day of their course to enhance both academic learning and workplace readiness.
