Lokesh says TD to soon unveil action plan to revitalise party in Telangana

VIJAYAWADA: Education minister Nara Lokesh on Saturday disclosed that the Telugu Desam Party is currently discussing how TDP can be revitalised in Telangana.

“In this regard, we plan to unveil an action plan soon,” Lokesh declared, while pointing out that around 160,000 individuals have registered as Telugu Desam Party members in Telangana.

“This indicates a strong affection for TD among the people of the neighbouring state. We have made it our primary goal to strengthen the Telugu Desam Party in Telangana,” Lokesh underlined, while paying homage at the Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) Memorial on the occasion of NTR’s 29th death anniversary.

Speaking to media at the NTR Memorial, the AP education minister said, “160,000 people of Telangana voluntarily registering as members of TDP reflects the immense love people of the neighbouring state have for Telugu Desam. Even in the absence of any MLAs in Telangana, such a significant number of people have joined the party. We plan to commence party activities and strengthen the TD in Telangana soon,” announced Lokesh, who is also the national general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party.

Lokesh expressed dissatisfaction about the poor management of NTR Ghat in Hyderabad. He announced that he will carry out repairs at his grandfather’s memorial with his own funds. He directed his staff to acquire the necessary permissions and complete the required repairs and improvements at the NTR Ghat as swiftly as possible.

The minister maintained that he had previously requested the Telangana government multiple times to hand over the management responsibilities of the Ghat to the NTR Trust. He stated that NTR Ghat is a significant memorial for late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and they have decided to rejuvenate it soon.

Lokesh observed, “NTR is not just a name; he represents a phenomenon. NTR made his mark in the film industry by producing various types of movies. He provided rice to people for only two rupees. He granted property rights to women. We are well aware of the vision with which NTR founded the party. We will continue to advance his ideals. If any mistakes are made, we have senior leaders within the party to correct them,” he added.
