Lokesh Says Mangalagiri Gems, Jewellery Park To Be Best In Country
Education, IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday declared that the Gems and Jewellery Park being set up in Mangalagiri will be the best of its kind in India.

VIJAYAWADA: Education, IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday declared that the Gems and Jewellery Park being set up in Mangalagiri will be the best of its kind in India.
Reviewing the issue of establishing this park, he asked officials to swiftly follow up the matter with the central government. “The Mangalagiri park should provide world-class training in jewellery making,” Lokesh underlined.
He directed officials to ensure that the top 20 jewellery manufacturers in the country establish their manufacturing units and retail shops in the Mangalagiri park.
The minister ordered officials to study the operations of Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ) located in Udupi, known for its excellence in training.
Following this, AP Skill Development Corporation CEO Ganesh Kumar responded that arrangements are underway to provide advanced jewellery-making training to 4,000 individuals annually through the upcoming Common Facility Centre and Centre of Excellence in Mangalagiri.
Gems and Jewellery Park at Mangalagiri will comprise several distinct zones, including the Centre of Excellence, Common Facility Centre, industrial zone, commercial and retail zone, manufacturing zone, residential zone and infrastructure zone.
Lokesh called for the rapid establishment of a Model Career Centre (MCC) in Mangalagiri to provide skill training to the youth. The MCC will focus on career coaching, job matching, skill upgrading and employer engagement.
Officials informed the minister that 1,170 youth have attended three job fairs organised thus far in Mangalagiri. 453 of them have been successful in finding a placement. In this regard, Lokesh instructed that moving forward, job fairs be held monthly with the goal of providing 100 per cent employment opportunities to the youth of AP.
Those who attended the meeting included Skill Development Corporation executive director K. Raghava and associate director Purushottam, apart from Ganesh Kumar and other officials.
