Lokesh Says 1.10 Lakh Students Shifted From Private to Government Schools
The minister said politics should have no place in educational institutions and noted that photographs of the CM and himself had not been displayed in schools and colleges.
Vijayawada: Education minister N. Lokesh on Friday said 1.10 lakh students had shifted from private institutions to government schools in Andhra Pradesh during the current academic year, due to improvements in the quality of education.
Addressing the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting at Rampachodavaram in Polavaram district, Lokesh praised teachers, students and parents for the achievement and described them as brand ambassadors of government schools.
Recalling a recent visit to his Assembly constituency of Mangalagiri, the minister said a mother had requested his help in securing admission for her child in a government school. The incident reflected the “growing confidence among parents in government education.”
Lokesh said the government had developed the government school at Nidamarru to international standards as a pilot project and planned to establish a similar model school in every assembly constituency.
The minister said the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting had emerged as an effective platform for strengthening cooperation between parents and teachers and supporting students' academic progress.
Lokesh advised students to respect their parents, teachers and elders, saying such values would help them achieve success. Referring to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, he said the eminent space scientist's life should inspire students to pursue their goals through dedication and hard work.
