Lokesh Promises to Resolve Problems During Praja Darbar

Vijayawada: Education and IT minister Nara Lokesh has promised to resolve issues of the public regarding lands, employment, pensions, welfare schemes etc during the Praja Darbar grievances programme held at his residence on Tuesday.
V. Ram Gopal from Rentapalla in Palnadu district sought the minister’s help to register in his name online a 4-acre field of his late wife, who died due to cancer. He said that despite several appeals to officials, the land rights have not been shifted. The minister promised to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
S. Eedayya from Ekonaampet in Macharla mandal sought a job for him, matching his qualifications. He said his 3.10-acre land was submerged due to erection of the Satrasala dam. “I have been seeking employment for the last 10 years, but in vain.” The minister assured him that opportunities would be provided.
Another person, B. Mallanna, pleaded for his employment at the municipal office. He had migrated to Vijayawada due to agricultural losses in the Kurnool district, where he had taken 5 acres on lease to cultivate chilli. “I incurred a debt of Rs 6 lakh,” he said, and sought assistance for his family. The minister promised to look into the matter.
Residents from Santakudlur in the Adoni constituency of Kurnool district requested the minister to address the drinking water supply issues in their village. They explained how funds were allocated for erection of summer storage tanks during the 2014 Telugu Desam government, “but the work had stalled under the YSRC rule.”
They urged the minister to complete the project and allocate funds for two additional overhead water tanks. An assurance was given that due actions would be undertaken.
Representatives of the Bahujan Sena from Eluru urged the minister to restore 26 welfare schemes that were revoked during the YSRC term, and “withdraw illegal cases filed against protesters.” They sought pensions for Bahujan movement leaders, to which the minister responded positively, promising appropriate measures.
Also, representatives of AP data entry operators welfare association urged the minister to resolve issues faced by the temporary national health mission data entry operators working in urban primary health centres. They sought recognition as contract employees. The minister assured them that action would be taken.
Madarsa education volunteers from Guntur requested the minister to regularise their positions and clear the pending honorarium dues. The minister promised to consider the request.
Representatives of the Sri Venkateswara auto and taxi workers union, affiliated to the TN TUC, requested housing plots for their members working in Tirupati and Tirumala for the past 20 years but are living in rented accommodations. The minister assured them of assistance.
Members of the school management committee from Polakala Panchayat in the Irala mandal of Chittoor district pleaded for the establishment of a 10th-grade exam centre due to the travel difficulties faced by students, who have to trudge 4 kilometres to the nearest centre. Lokesh promised to investigate the matter and take necessary actions.
