Lokesh Promises ‘She Play’ Policy For Women Students

VISAKHAPATNAM: Education and IT minister Nara Lokesh on Saturday said the state government would soon introduce the “She Play” policy to provide more opportunities for women in sports. Lokesh made the announcement while inaugurating the modernised Chandrampalem ZP High School at Madhurawada, developed with the support of Divis Labs under Project Chandra.
The minister inspected the upgraded classrooms, sports facilities and other infrastructure, and interacted with the students as well. Lokesh said girls often faced barriers, including parental disapproval and inadequate infrastructure. The proposed She Play policy would seek to address these challenges.
“Our goal is to ensure that every school has female students excelling in sports,” he said, referring to Telugu cricketer Nallapureddy Sree Ccharani as an example.
During his interaction with students, Lokesh spoke about his own student days, his entry into politics, and his views on public life. “Society is a temple, people are gods. Only when we help each other can we reach the highest heights in life. Then God will be found within you,” he said. The minister said politics should not be viewed merely as a pursuit of positions, but as a platform to influence society’s future. He urged students to remain aware of global developments, technological changes and contemporary issues. Divis Labs director Nilima Prasad Divi, who had been associated with the modernisation of the school, spoke about the importance of hard work, perseverance, and teamwork. “Problems keep coming in everyone’s life. But if we work together, any problem can be solved,” she said.
Former education minister and local MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao also interacted with the students. He praised Lokesh’s efforts in the education sector, pointing to reforms including the ‘One Class – One Teacher’ initiative, which, he said, is operational in 10,000 schools. Lokesh thanked Divis Labs for its contribution to the development of Chandrampalem ZP High School.
Those who participated in the programme included TD state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao, VMRDA chairman Pranav Gopal, district collector Abhishek Kishore, officials, teachers, and students.
