Lokesh Orders Removal of Water Hyacinth from Buckingham Canal
Education minister Nara Lokesh was the chief guest at the Sri Bhagiratha Maharshi Jayanti celebrations in Gautam Buddha Road in Mangalagiri on Sunday.

Vijayawada: Education minister Nara Lokesh was the chief guest at the Sri Bhagiratha Maharshi Jayanti celebrations in Gautam Buddha Road in Mangalagiri on Sunday.
The event was organised by the Sagara Bhagiratha Association. Lokesh visited the statue of Sri Bhagiratha Maharshi and paid floral tributes. Special prayers were conducted by temple priests, who also offered blessings to all those present there. Locals raised slogans of Jai Bhagiratha.
The minister also participated in the Sri Mahankali Ammavari Devasthanam re-consecration festival in Kanthamaraju Konduru village of Duggira mandal in Mangalagiri constituency. He was given a grand welcome by officials and local leaders. Lokesh offered a special saree, turmeric, saffron and bangles to the goddess and performed special pujas.
Later, he visited the newly constructed Sri Vigneshwara Swamy and Sri Subrahmanyeshwara Swamy temples and performed special prayers.
Lokesh inspected the Buckingham Canal between Kaja-Chinavadlapudi en route and observed that a large amount of water hyacinth was getting stuck in the canal. He asked the officials to ensure these were removed from the canal to avoid problems for farmers during the rainy season.
