Lokesh Helps Differently-Abled NEET Ranker
Harihara, hailing from Tirupati and enrolled in the Intermediate BiPC English medium, faced a challenge regarding his eligibility for a medical seat due to the requirement of selecting English as a first or second language.

VIJAYAWADA: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has stepped in to assist a differently-abled student, Dasareddy Harihara Brahma Reddy, who achieved a rank in the NEET examination.
Harihara, hailing from Tirupati and enrolled in the Intermediate BiPC English medium, faced a challenge regarding his eligibility for a medical seat due to the requirement of selecting English as a first or second language. Under the norms, differently-abled students are exempt from this rule during their intermediate studies. However, the NEET guidelines mandated that students select English as a language.
This led to concerns about the possibility of losing a medical college seat. Despite securing an impressive 1174 rank in the NEET examination among the differently-abled category, Harihara's anxiety intensified when the memo indicated 'E' (Exempted) under the first language column, suggesting he might not qualify for a medical seat. This prompted Harihara and his parents to seek the help of minister Lokesh.
In response, the minister issued a special GO allowing the inclusion of a minimum of 35 marks for BiPC students, similar to the previous provisions extended to IIT and NIT rankers regarding their English subject scores. This helped Harihara to pursue his dreams in medical education, reaffirming his eligibility for the upcoming counselling session scheduled on August 19.
Harihara and his parents expressed their thanks to Lokesh for his swift action and unwavering support.
