Lokesh Distributes 3,000 Land Titles, Reiterates Commitment to Develop Mangalagiri

VIJAYAWADA: Education minister Nara Lokesh on Tuesday said the government was committed to transforming Mangalagiri into a model constituency and fulfilling the promises made to the people.

He distributed permanent land title deeds to around 3,000 beneficiaries from Mangalagiri and Tadepalli mandals at a public meeting held under the Mana Illu – Mana Lokesh programme at the CK Convention Centre.

The minister said the distribution of title deeds fulfilled a key election promise of granting permanent ownership rights to eligible poor families. Recalling his defeat in the 2019 assembly election, Lokesh said he had assured residents that the issue of land regularisation would be resolved if he came to power.

He said the state government has granted permanent ownership rights to land worth nearly Rs 1,000 crore, ending decades of uncertainty for beneficiaries. The title deeds would enable them to obtain bank loans by using their properties as collateral while providing legal ownership, he added.

Thanking the people for electing him with one of the highest victory margins in the 2024 Assembly elections, Lokesh said the government was implementing welfare and development programmes simultaneously. He cited infrastructure projects in Mangalagiri, including underground drainage, 24x7 drinking water supply, parks and crematorium development, besides state-wide welfare schemes such as enhanced social pensions, Thalliki Vandanam, Stree Shakti and Anna Canteens.

The minister said the government was working to implement its election commitments despite financial constraints while attracting investments and reviving stalled projects to strengthen the state's finances.

Lokesh said the Telugu Desam, Jana Sena and BJP had adopted a transparent process in identifying beneficiaries and appealed to the people to continue supporting the alliance government.
