Lokesh Claps Balakrishna’s 112th Film Launch in Amaravati

Balakrishna’s 112th film launch marks a major milestone for Andhra Pradesh cinema

Vijayawada: Education, IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh reiterated Andhra Pradesh government’s commitment to promote film industry in the state, turning Amaravati into a major hub for cinema and creator-based economy.

Speaking at the grand launch of the 112th film of actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna at the BITS Pilani grounds in Velagapudi on Wednesday, Lokesh said the government is working towards creating the necessary infrastructure to support the growth of entertainment sector in the people's capital.

The event marks the first major film launch in Amaravati. Lokesh, who attended as the chief guest along with Cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh, participated in the traditional puja and gave the ceremonial clap to commence shooting. Tejaswini, Balakrishna’s daughter, switched on the camera and directed the first shot.

Expressing delight over attending a film launch for the first time, Lokesh thanked Balakrishna and underlined that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu envisions large-scale promotion of both the film industry and the creator economy. He described Amaravati as a “sacred land” and expressed hope that many more film projects would be launched from the capital in the future.

Addressing the gathering, Balakrishna thanked the ministers for attending the event and Tejaswini for directing the inaugural shot. He maintained that it has been nearly two decades since a major film has been launched in Andhra Pradesh with such fanfare.

The actor lauded the efforts of Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan towards strengthening the film sector in the state.

Balakrishna pointed out that the tourism and film industries are closely interconnected. He said the government's initiatives could provide a significant boost to both sectors.

Prominent personalities present included filmmaker Koratala Siva, producers Cherukuri Sudhakar and D. Suresh Babu, and MLAs Tenali Sravan Kumar and M.S. Raju, apart from other film and political dignitaries.
