Lokesh Calls Rosaiah ‘Symbol’ Of Political Values

Education minister Nara Lokesh has described former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Konijeti Rosaiah as a symbol of political values.

Unveiling the late leader’s bronze statue at Siripuram Circle in Visakhapatnam on Monday,

Lokesh proposed that the statue be named as the “Statue of a Statesman” and said future generations should be made aware of Rosaiah’s contributions.

He also suggested establishing a museum documenting Rosaiah’s life and political career.

Lokesh recalled Rosaiah’s discipline, honesty, knowledge of various subjects and ability to put across sharp criticism. He said Rosaiah, who also served as Tamil Nadu Governor, believed that political positions were temporary but service to the people was permanent.

The minister said Rosaiah had often acted as a bridge between the government and the opposition in the assembly and helped defuse heated debates. “Rosaiah’s rise from a humble family background to national prominence showed the importance of values and hard work in public life,” he said.

Lokesh suggested including Rosaiah’s life history in educational curricula and producing books and videos about him for the younger generation. Statues of leaders should serve as tributes to their contributions.

The minister called upon Arya Vaishya elders to collectively identify a place for the proposed museum and suggested that it be completed within 18 months. He assured Rosaiah’s family that the government would extend full support to preserve his legacy.

Before the unveiling, Lokesh met Rosaiah’s family members, including Paida Krishna Prasad, Paida Ramadevi, Paida Maurya, Konijeti Sivasubbarao and KSN Murthy. He assured them that the government would take steps to inform the current generation about Rosaiah’s contributions.

Minister T.G. Bharath, Vizag MP M. Sribharat, TD state president and MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, AP Arya Vysya Corporation chairman Dundi Rakesh and others attended the programme.
