Lokesh Assures Strict Action On Irregular College Permits
The minister said the coalition government was working towards standardising affiliation procedures across universities through a unified Act

Vijayawada: Education, IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday assured stern action against any irregularities in college affiliations under Adikavi Nannaya University, provided concrete evidence is submitted.
Replying to a query from Rajanagaram MLA Battula Balaramakrishna in the Assembly, Lokesh recalled the MLA’s earlier representation on the issue and said action would be taken against colleges that violated norms to obtain permissions.
The minister said the coalition government was working towards standardising affiliation procedures across universities through a unified Act. The process would include digitisation, geo-tagging, photographs and videos for online submissions, along with clearly defined regulations. He added that the appointment of a new Executive Council would be completed soon.
Raising concerns, Balaramakrishna described Adikavi Nannaya University—one of the largest universities in the State with over 400 affiliated colleges—as having suffered widespread irregularities during the previous YSRC regime. He alleged that permissions were granted to colleges without basic infrastructure or adequate staff, with instances of a single faculty member shown on the rolls of multiple colleges.
He further alleged collusion by university officials during inspections, terming some colleges as “temporary cinema set-like” structures that misled students. Despite the present government’s efforts to cleanse the education system, he claimed malpractices continued due to an executive council, renewed every three years, which included a minister’s aide and a former MLA during the YSRC rule.
The MLA also alleged irregularities in tenders, incomplete projects such as the indoor stadium and swimming pool despite inflated bills, DD cloning for fee-related scams, and junior staff being promoted over seniors.
Responding, Lokesh reiterated the government’s commitment to strong oversight and urged the MLA to submit documentary evidence to enable immediate action.
