Lokesh Announces Recruitment of Another 3,000 Teachers Through DSC This Year

Lokesh assured teachers that their feedback on reforms through the Leap app would be considered

VISAKHAPATNAM: Education minister Nara Lokesh on Saturday announced that the Andhra Pradesh government would fill another 3,000 teacher posts through a fresh DSC this year, in addition to the 16,000 posts already filled.

Addressing a teachers’ cluster school complex meeting at Dasannapeta Zilla Parishad Balikonnatha School in Vizianagaram, Lokesh said the government has brought in its initial reforms. It would now focus on improving the learning outcomes.

Speaking later to teachers across the state through a video conference, the minister said cluster complex meetings would be held every month to understand problems faced by teachers at the field level. He pointed out that the One Class One Teacher policy had been introduced in 10,000 schools. Teachers have been sent to Singapore and Finland to study advanced teaching methods. Further, every Saturday has been declared a no-bag day to promote joyful learning, he pointed out.

Lokesh asked teachers to submit suggestions through the Leap app and strengthen initiatives, such as the Creative Club, Leadership Club, Language Club, Math and Science Club, Green Club, Sports Club and Anti-Drugs Club.

Recalling his Yuvagalam Padayatra in Kurnool district, he said he had witnessed families migrating in search of employment and shortage of teachers in schools. This influenced his decision to focus on educational reforms.

The minister said the government has reduced non-teaching responsibilities of teachers over the past two years. It is reviewing their concerns every Friday of the week. He referred to the curriculum on moral values prepared with the guidance of Chaganti Koteswara Rao, focusing on respect for parents and women.

Lokesh assured teachers that their feedback on reforms through the Leap app would be considered. He asked teachers, officials and public representatives to work together over the next five years to strengthen the state’s education system.
