The SIT served four notices on him to appear before it so far, and carried out searches on the offices and residences of him, his kin and friends in Hyderabad. It reportedly seized some incriminating documents proving his involvement in the liquor scam and other financial irregularities.
Kasireddy is expected to appear before the SIT on April 19.
Meanwhile, the Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy who was summoned by the SIT for inquiry on April 19 in relation to the liquor scam, moved the high court, pleading that the questioning be done in the presence of his lawyers and that the entire process be recorded.
Justice T Mallikarjuna Rao, hearing the petition here on Thursday, directed the SIT to question the MP in the presence of lawyers. The inquiry should take place where CCTV cameras have been installed, the court ruled.
Mithun Reddy’s counsel Niranjan Reddy argued that there was a chance of his client being subjected to physical assault. He pleaded with the court to give directions for audio and video recording of the questioning / examination of the witness in the case.
Advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas argued on behalf of the SIT. He said there was no provision in law that the deposition of the witness be recorded through audio and video modes. “This is at the discretion of the investigating officers.”
