Large Turnout For Yoga Programme at Mangalagiri Temple
The collector said regular yoga practice helps prevent illness, promotes mental well-being and emotional balance, and can reduce healthcare expenditure

VIJAYAWADA: A district-level yoga programme organised at the historic Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Mangalagiri on Saturday drew large participation from yoga practitioners, government officials and members of the public as part of the ongoing campaign ahead of International Yoga Day.
Guntur district collector C.M. Sai Kanth Varma inaugurated the programme and emphasised the importance of making yoga an integral part of daily life to promote holistic health and well-being.
The event began with the collector garlanding a portrait of Maharshi Patanjali, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp along with yoga instructors.
Addressing the gathering, Sai Kanth Varma said yoga is a valuable contribution from India to the world and noted its growing acceptance across countries. He urged people to adopt yoga as part of their daily routine to lead healthier and more productive lives.
The collector said regular yoga practice helps prevent illness, promotes mental well-being and emotional balance, and can reduce healthcare expenditure. He added that yoga should be viewed as a comprehensive way of life rather than merely a series of physical exercises.
“Daily yoga practice helps individuals develop a disciplined, energetic and stress-free lifestyle,” he said.
Yoga instructor Vijaya Gauri demonstrated Surya Namaskar along with Surya mantras and explained the importance of a balanced diet. Ayushman department official G. Vijayanand guided participants through various yoga asanas.
At the conclusion of the programme, the collector felicitated yoga instructor Vijaya Gauri and Ayushman department official G. Ramanand for their contribution to promoting yoga awareness.
District medical and health officer Dr Vijayalakshmi, district tourism officer Ramya, officials from various departments, yoga enthusiasts and members of the public participated in the programme.
