Vijayawada:Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar noticed lapses in the functioning of the civil supplies outlet selling rice at AP Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday and ordered its closure for now.
The minister said the rice being sold at the outlet was not of good quality. Broken rice was mixed in it. The weighing machine was not functioning properly. The rice bags of 26kg weighed only 25kg.
He ordered an inquiry into the lapses. The outlet was being run by an individual, not by the civil supplies corporation directly, it was explained.
Manohar promised to revamp the facility and ensure sale of quality rice and other essential commodities at reasonable prices in a month’s time, for the benefit of the Telugus living in the national capital.
