Labour Officer Faces Action Over Vetlapalem Fire Tragedy

KAKINADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated departmental proceedings against labour officer Vali in connection with the fire accident at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem, Kakinada district, in which 28 people were killed on February 28.

Following the incident, the government had suspended the Peddapuram DSP, Peddapuram RDO, district fire officer and district labour officer for alleged negligence in inspecting fireworks manufacturing units.

Departmental action has now been initiated against Labour Officer Vali as part of the ongoing proceedings.
