Kurnool ORR Project Gains Momentum
Per the master plan, the proposed ORR will be approximately 17 kilometres long and 200 feet wide. Officials from the Municipal and Roads & Buildings (R&B) department have already inspected the proposed alignment. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared within three months. Officials will also estimate the number of vehicles expected to use the route, and work will commence once funds are sanctioned.

Kurnool: To address heavy traffic congestion in Kurnool city and the challenges faced by vehicle users, officials have begun diverting buses and heavy vehicles via the proposed Outer Ring Road (ORR). Keeping future transport needs in mind, proposals have been prepared for the construction of the ORR.
Commuters are experiencing significant difficulties at major junctions due to traffic congestion. Preparations are underway to prevent heavy vehicles from entering the city and to divert them via the bypass road connected to the proposed ring road. Officials have initiated the process to link the bypass road to the proposed ring road, allowing vehicles to bypass the city without entering it.

According to the proposed plan, the ring road will run for 7.2 km from Lakshmipuram Bypass near Kallur to Kodumur Road near Peddapadu. From there, it extends another 9.9 km to Munagalapadu Road near NH-44 (Hyderabad–Bengaluru Highway). Officials plan to divert vehicles away from the Surat Highway and route them through Kodumur Road. To avoid the loss of buildings and private land, plans are being prepared to route most of the ORR through government land. Municipal commissioner P. Viswanath said that once the ORR is completed, traffic problems in the city will be reduced significantly. He added that the project will be undertaken once the DPR is completed and government funds are released.
