Kurnool District All Set To Emerge As A Major Industrial Hub

Kurnool leads the latest SIPB approvals with six projects spanning green energy, biogas and agro sectors, attracting major investments and creating jobs.

Kurnool district has secured the highest number of six projects approved in the latest meeting of the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB). These are spread across green energy, biogas, and agro-based sectors.

Nearly 50 per cent of the projects approved in the latest SIPB round are proposed for Rayalaseema. Projects cleared for Kurnool, Kadapa, and Chittoor districts involve investments of `12,298 crore. They are expected to generate around 11,067 direct jobs.

In Kurnool, Okeir Green Fuels will establish a project with an investment of `616 crore, generating around 130 jobs. Jakson Green Renewable has proposed an investment of `1,533 crore, yielding 250 jobs. Aaradhya Biogas will invest `143.47 crore and generate 595 jobs, while Agastya Green Energy has proposed an investment of `7,799.96 crore and is expected to provide 1,000 jobs. Jayaditya Agro will invest ₹300 crore, generating 350 jobs.

Further, the proposed Drone City at Orvakal is expected to attract investments of around `5,000 crore. Union civil aviation minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu said on August 18 that the project is likely to bring investments of around ₹5,000 crore.

Kurnool collector Dr. A. Siri said the district administration is taking steps to facilitate land allocation and provide infrastructure for the proposed industries. “We are taking steps to facilitate land allocation and provide the required infrastructure for the industries coming to Kurnool. Several companies have already shown interest in setting up units, particularly in the proposed Drone City,” she underlined.

In Kadapa, AIL Dixon India will establish an electronics manufacturing project at the Kopparthi Industrial Cluster with an investment of `450 crore, generating around 7,000 direct jobs.

In Chittoor district, Hindalco Industries will establish a project at Kuppam with an investment of ₹880 crore. It is expected to generate around 447 jobs.

An APIIC zonal manager said the state government is taking steps to extend support and incentives to investors, so that they set up their projects in Rayalaseema. “The government is keen to provide the necessary support and incentives to investors. We will ensure that projects already approved are implemented without delay,” the official stated.
