Krishnashtami Rituals Held At Mantralayam

In Kurnool city, temples, including the Surya temple at the Gooty petrol bunk area, the Saibaba temple, the Anjaneyaswamy temple, the Sri Krishna temple and others, organised special rituals and pujas to mark the festival.

Kurnool: Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated at several temples and religious places in Kurnool and Nandyal on Saturday. Special pujas and rituals were performed as part of the festival. At the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Mantralayam, daily pujas were suspended on the occasion of Krishnashtami. In the early hours, priests offered only Nirmalyam to the Nija Brindavanam, performed Mangala Harati and decorated it with Tulasi garlands. Devotees had darshan of Raghavendra Swamy in the form of the Brindavanam. Thousands of pilgrims from different places visited the village deity Manchalamma and the Brindavanam shrine, taking advantage of the consecutive holidays. In Kurnool city, temples, including the Surya temple at the Gooty petrol bunk area, the Saibaba temple, the Anjaneyaswamy temple, the Sri Krishna temple and others, organised special rituals and pujas to mark the festival. In Nandyal, celebrations were held at the Sri Krishna Bhajan Mandir on Chittuluri Vari Street and the Sri Krishna temple in Padmavati Nagar. Priests performed Panchamrita Abhishekam, Archanas and special pujas for Venugopala Swamy in the morning, followed by special decorations. Priest Sudhindra Acharya explained the significance of Krishna Janmashtami and narrated Krishna Leelas to the devotees. Large numbers of devotees visited the temples and received prasadam.
