Three Stranded Overnight in Kalanuthala Stream Rescued Safely

Markapuram: Three people who were stranded overnight in the Kalanuthala stream in Peddaraveedu mandal under Markapuram limits were safely rescued by officials on Monday.

Following the release of Krishna water at Gantavanipalli, the stream was flowing in full spate. A car carrying the three men reportedly attempted to cross the road but was swept into the water. The occupants managed to climb a nearby tree and raised loud cries for help.

On receiving the information, police and fire personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. With the help of a Proclain vehicle, the three men were safely brought down from the tree.

The three men reportedly told officials that they had gone to Kalanuthala to see the Krishna waters. The first phase of the Veligonda Project was inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday.

Meanwhile, large quantities of Krishna water are currently flowing into the Nallamala Sagar reservoir through the tunnels.
