Krishna Water Will Be Supplied to Tirupati: Nimmala

He said that he prayed to Lord Balaji for the early completion of Amaravati and Polavaram projects, lakhs of jobs to the youth and prosperity of the state.

Tirupati: Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu on Sunday announced that Krishna river water would be brought to Tirumala through a dedicated pipeline to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply for pilgrims visiting the hill shrine.

The minister, who trekked up the Alipiri footpath along with his family for prayers at the Tirumala shrine, said the government has drawn up plans to channel water from Srisailam to the temple town to ensure there is no shortage in the future.

He said some 3,850 cusecs of Krishna water was being diverted through the Handri-Neeva project to fill the Adavipalli reservoir. From there, water would be routed through the Neva canal to meet both the drinking and industrial needs of Tirupati.

“We will draw Krishna water from Srisailam and fill all Balaji reservoirs. This would ensure there is no shortage of drinking water for devotees in Tirumala,” Ramanaidu said.

He said the state government was taking concrete steps to preserve the sanctity of Tirumala and improve the facilities for pilgrims. “From Annaprasadam to water supply, we are making sure every basic need of devotees is addressed.”

The minister claimed that the people have begun to see a positive change since the new government took charge, with Tirumala "regaining its past spiritual and administrative discipline." He also recalled how all major reservoirs in Rayalaseema were filled last year, attributing it to divine blessings of the Lord and improved water management.

“For the first time in 25 years, water was released from Srisailam in July,” he stated.
