KURNOOL: Flood flows in the Srisailam Reservoir are gradually receding, prompting dam authorities to close all the project’s spillway gates, the last one on Tuesday morning.
Presently, inflows into the Srisailam from Jurala and Sunkesula stand at 65,985 cusecs. Simultaneously, around 68,753 cusecs of water is being released downstream to Nagarjunasagar through power generation at the Right and Left Ganga Hydropower stations.
Srisailam reservoir's current water level is at 882.50 feet, with the storage volume being 201.582 TMC.
However, the Tungabhadra River is rising. In Mantralayam, circle inspector Ramanujulu inspected safety measures along the riverbank adjacent to the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt on Tuesday.
As the river current is strong, the inspector has advised pilgrims not to enter the river for bathing. Instead, they can use the shower facilities provided along the riverbank for devotees.
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed to ensure safety.
