Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy set the foundation stone for a 33/11 KV substation in Kudithipalem village.
Nellore: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy set the foundation stone for a 33/11 KV substation in Kudithipalem village, being built at a cost of ₹2.77 crore. She announced that Kovur would be developed into a model constituency for solar power usage in Andhra Pradesh.
Under the TD government, ₹90 crore has been allocated for power sector upgrades in the constituency, including new three-phase lines, 33 KV lines and additional transformers. The substation is expected to resolve issues of low voltage and frequent power outages, especially benefiting aqua farmers.
The MLA thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar for sanctioning two substations to her constituency.
She also appreciated the quick payment system that credits farmers’ accounts within 24 hours of selling paddy.
Prashanti Reddy has highlighted the central and state subsidies — 100 per cent for SC/STs and up to ₹80,000 for BCs. She urged the citizens to adopt solar energy to avail benefits. She called upon the youth to spread awareness about solar power in villages.
The MLA also praised local electricity officials for their efforts and instructed them to complete the substation within two months.
