Kovur MLA Launches 100-day Literacy Drive

Speaking at a community mobilisers’ meet organised by the district adult education department at the ICDS office in Kovur town, she emphasised that literacy is the key to social transformation.

Nellore: In a notable stride toward achieving 100 per cent literacy, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy has called upon all educated citizens to embrace literacy promotion as a collective social responsibility.

Speaking at a community mobilisers’ meet organised by the district adult education department at the ICDS office in Kovur town, she emphasised that literacy is the key to social transformation.

She expressed surprise that nearly 22,000 adults above the age of 15 in Kovur remain illiterate, calling it a matter of urgency. The MLA announced the launch of a 100-day literacy programme, with participation from 200 mobilisers and 2,500 education volunteers. She urged local leaders and elected representatives to actively create awareness about the necessity of literacy among people particularly women.
